You grinned. In fact, your face was beginning to hurt from smiling so much.
You, (First Name) (Last Name), were going to the movies!
Normally, this wouldn't have been a big deal, but you'd just been ungrounded, and your best friend was going with you. (Guardian) had even driven you to the next city over, a bigger one, so you could go to dinner first. A celebratory sleepover would follow.
Your (Guardian) drove for what seemed like forever, but in reality, was probably only fifteen minutes. After parking, the three of you went into (Favorite Restaurant).
"Table for three." (Guardian) said. The hostess nodded, fetched three menus, and led the way to your table.
After ordering your drinks, and your food, you chatted amiably about school, life, and any other thing that struck your fancy.
Your meal was soon over, but you got even more excited, if that were possible, because it was finally time for the movie!
You and (Best Friend's Name) climbed out of the car.
"Bye! See you when the movie gets out." (Guardian) called.
"See you!"
You walked into the warm building, and headed to the electronic ticket kiosk.
"(Name), let's go see Les Miserables!" (Best Friend's Name) had said.
"Alright, calm your tits." You smiled, picking out the correct tickets and paying.
"Oh my God, I'm so excited!" (S)he squealed.
You had surprised (Best Friend's Name) with 3D tickets, and so you got your glasses from a short, grumpy-looking guy that you went to school with.
"Thanks, Vantas." You said, heading to concessions. He grunted in response.
"Wow, he's such a cutie~" Your friend sighed dreamily.
"Yeah, yeah." You rolled your eyes.
There wasn't really anyone who caught your eye, except for...well... Tavros Nitram. He was a senior, though, and you were only a sophomore.
You reached the concessions counter, only to be confronted with your friend, Kanaya, and your mortal enemy, Vriska. She was Tavros' ex, and it'd been a high-profile breakup, in which she kept pursuing him, even after he turned her down. She hated you, for whatever reason.
Why should she? She was gorgeous. Long blonde hair with dark blue streaks, pale, flawless skin, big dark blue eyes, and gorgeous curves. You envied her, even after the breakup.
"Hi, Kanaya, Vriska. Could I get two Cokes, and a medium popcorn?" You asked.
"Suuuuuuuure thing, (Name)." Vriska smiled maliciously.
"Here you go, (Name)--oooooooops." Vriska had practically thrown both drinks on you.
"What the fuck, Vriska?" You'd shouted, now dripping with the brown soda.
"Sorry." She apologized, not looking sorry at all.
"Seriously, Serket! That was totally uncalled for." (Best Friend's Name) had yelled, waving a finger in Vriska's face.
"Vriska, I think that's enough. What has she even done to you?" You heard a voice from behind you say. You looked down, to see that your shirt had been soaked clean through, exposing your bra and your torso, straight down to the waistband of your jeans.
After crossing your arms over your chest, you turned, where your suspicions were confirmed. Sure enough, Tavros was sitting there, looking grumpier than you'd ever seen him.
God, but didn't he look perfect tonight? His mohawk was messy, and adorably styled. His medium-brown skin was flushed, with what looked to be anger, and his brown eyes were blazing.
"I agree, that's quite enough, Vriska. What did (Name) ever do to you?" Kanaya cut in.
"She stole my boyfriend!" Vriska blurted, before snapping her mouth shut.
"I did no such thing!" You cried.
You turned back toward Tavros, who now appeared to be more flustered than angry. You decided not to pursue the subject.
"Here." (Best Friend's Name) said, thrusting napkins at you.
"Yeah." Tavros handed you more napkins.
"By the way, take this." Tav was pulling his hoodie off. It was (Color), with (University Name) printed on it. And holy shit. It smelled positively wonderful. Woodsy, earthy, and a little bit spicy.
He appeared to have stuffed something in the pocket, but you weren't sure.
"I...Thanks. A lot." Vriska had stormed off.
"I apologize, (Name). I had no idea she'd do such a thing. Here, it's on me." Kanaya had said, handing you two drinks, lids securely on, and the bag of popcorn you'd initially requested.
"Thanks, Kanaya. You didn't have to."
"It's the least I can do, what with her most likely ruining that top."
"And thank you, Tavros. I really appreciate the gesture." You bent down and hugged him.
"It's no problem, (Name). Return it whenever you can." He was smiling brightly.
"(Name), hurry up! We're gonna miss the movie!" (Best Friend's Name) tugged you along. Just before you went into the theater, you felt around in the pockets. There was something in the right one. Lo and behold, it was a napkin. Scrawled across the white surface of the napkin, in black pen, was a phone number and a note.
I really like you, (Name). A lot. I was waiting for the right opportunity to give you this, and now's as good as any.
-Tavros
Oh my God. Oh my God, Oh my God, OH MY GOD!
You hugged the note close to your chest and squealed quietly.
"What are you even squeeing about, (Name)! It's movie time!" (Best Friend's Name) complained as you found your seats.
"Look at this freaking note, and then tell me to stop squealing." You thrust the note towards him/her.
"Oh my God. I knew something was up." S/he smiled, hugging you.
"Now if only Karkat would pull something like this..." (Best Friend's Name) sighed.
"Who knows?" You mused.
(Guardian) came to pick you up. S/he knew all about your mega-crush on a certain boy, and raised an eyebrow quizzically when you came out of the theater draped in a huge sweatshirt.
You told (Guardian) the entire story. (Best Friend's Name) and (Guardian) fangirled along with you.
"I don't think ungrounding has ever been this awesome." You smiled, leaning back in your seat.
"...I'm hungry." (Best Friend's Name) blurted.
All three of you laughed, and you couldn't recall being more excited.
